Apple May Launch VR/AR Headset Later
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he had previously claimed that the Cupertino-based giant's mixed reality headset faced various obstacles during the development phase. This led to delays in the announcement of the AR/VR headset. Now Kuo has confirmed this prediction, stating that the device's reveal and release will be pushed back. Apple is reportedly planning to announce its first headset this January 2023 via a special event.
However, the release of the AR/VR headset appears to have been delayed until Apple's Spring event or possibly WWDC 2023, when it unveils new software technology. Kuo also added that mixed reality headset development is behind schedule due to issues with mechanical component drop testing and the availability of software development tools. Therefore, bulk shipments may be delayed until Q2 2023 or Q3 2023.
Design and finer details about the Apple headset are still unclear, although previous reports suggest it will have 15 cameras everywhere. It could also pack many head-tracking sensors along with spatial audio support, sport dual 8K OLED displays and the latest M2 chipset.
