Alongside the launch of the 2023 S 1000 RR, BMW showcased the CE 04 in India. The futuristic looking e-scooter has an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides 130 km of driving on a single charge. The scooter charges to 100 percent in 4 hours and 20 minutes with the standard charger. The scooter has 3 riding modes, traction control and dual channel ABS.
The CE 04 features a compact front apron, wide side panels and a sloping tail section with row-like seating. BMW also brings together storage compartments on both the sides and the front of the CE 04 e-scooter. There is also a ventilated mobile charging compartment with a Type-C USB charging port. The BMW CE 04 uses a permanent magnet motor mounted in the steel frame between the battery and the rear wheel. It comes with a rated power of 15kW (20hp) and a maximum power of 31KW or 42hp. It enables the CE 04 to accelerate from 0-50 km/h in a claimed 2.6 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 120 km/h.

BMW CE 04 e-scooter: Design, Basics and Features
Inside the CE 04's floorboard is an 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery that powers the motor. BMW claims the scooter can travel 130 km on a full charge. Using a 2.3 kW charger, the battery can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 4 hours and 20 minutes. However, a 6.9 kW fast charger reduces this time to one hour and 40 minutes. BMW's CE 04 features a traction control system and three standard driving modes. These are called Eco, Road and Rain. The driving modes can be accessed via a huge 10.25-inch, high-resolution TFT display with full smartphone connectivity. The dashboard also offers a split function between navigation and other driving functions.
The CE 04 uses a tubular steel frame with a 35mm telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock with preload adjustment attached to a single-sided tong. The scooter rides on 120-inch wheels shod with a 160-section tire at the front and a 15-section tire at the rear. Braking duties are handled by twin 265mm discs and a single disc at the rear. ABS is standard, but BMW offers ABS Pro as an option, which comes with cornering function.
Internationally, BMW offers the CE 04 electric scooter in two color options. The standard one is available in light white with matt black sections, while the Avant Garde Style trim takes on a Magellan Grey metallic color with a black/orange saddle and an orange wind deflector. BMW is yet to announce plans for the CE 04 electric scooter in India, but given the success of the C 400 GT maxi-scooter, the company may well bring it here. As for pricing, in international markets the CE 04 costs roughly twice as much as the C 400 GT. And if this trend continues, it looks like the price tag it carries won't be too far from an R 1250 GS in India.
