Google's dominance in the world of online search seemed unquestionable. But despite this being the case, the tech giants have seen their influence wane with the emergence of new upstarts. Changing Reasons Why Consumers Use the Internet
Consumers are also doing less research before buying products, generally taking everything into consideration and taking everything into account. According to the Global Web Index, this number has dropped to 8 percent. This may also explain the lower use of search engines among Gen Z users. Using the internet to find inspiration or ideas rose from 9th place in 2018 to 6th place in 2022. This has caused other things to fall somewhere else. Researching products used to be the 6th most popular reason for using the internet, but that has now shifted to 7th place. Google's dominance isn't going away anytime soon, but of course, the fact that 55 percent of product searches now take place on Amazon suggests that it may be on the decline.
