GittiGidiyor was one of the most established companies in Turkey's internet ecosystem. It even celebrated its 20th anniversary in the past months and renewed its logo. However according to the information obtained this week, GittiGidiyor is preparing to end its adventure.
GittiGidiyor was acquired in 2011 by eBay, a US-based online marketplace. Now however GittiGidiyor's operations will be stopped by eBay. This decision was taken strategically by evaluating the competitive dynamics of the market.
Sellers using GittiGidiyor will no longer be able to post new listings on the platform as of today. However, purchasing will continue until July 18. Likewise, GittiGidiyor users will be able to access the "My Account" page until September 5th.

eBay also stated that it will work closely with users during the closing process of the platform. It was announced that in a very short time, GittiGidiyor users will be provided with much more detailed information about the closing and transition process.
According to other information included in the statement, this closing will not seriously affect eBay's full-year financial data. In addition, it is not expected to have a significant impact on Q2 data. However, it contributed to the number of active users of eBay with 4 million active users in the first quarter of 2022.
With the closure of GittiGidiyor, eBay, one of the most important actors of the entrepreneurial and internet ecosystem, has withdrawn from the Turkish market. As new information about this process becomes available, we will continue to pass it on to you.
