NASA Vehicle Detects Critically Important Methane

Global warming, which has started to make its impact felt more in recent years, brings many problems for the world. These problems range from rising sea levels to damage to the ecosystem. Thus, it destroys living spaces and creates a heavy cost for everyone living on earth. After the research conducted by NASA spacecraft, important information was reached in the context of global warming. More than 50 methane-emitting regions around the world have been identified. These developments seem to be of significant importance for global warming studies.

NASA Has Been Studying Methane Since Summer

Since the establishment of the World Surface Mineral Dust Source Survey in July, more than 50 methane-emitting regions have been identified. These methane-emitting regions that trigger global warming have been identified as the Southwestern United States, Central Asia and the Middle East.

Methane Hotspots

More than 50 methane hotspots around the world are made up of areas that serve different functions. They range from landfills to areas where gas and oil facilities are located.

An Important Development for Finding the Source

NASA President Bill Nelson made some statements on the subject. Nelson underlined that harnessing methane gas will have positive consequences for global warming. NASA research technologist Andrew Thorpe, who led the research in this context, also made some statements. Thorpe said that some of the methane detected was among the largest ever found and that such valuable developments far exceeded his expectations.
