The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) surprised people with a photo of the sullen Sun. NASA had previously made everyone smile by sharing the smiling version of the sun. This time, however, it offered a different experience and surprised people by sharing a 'sullen' picture of the Sun. The photo of the sullen Sun was shared on the Twitter account of NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. In addition, referring to the smiling Sun photo they published in October, they shared statements that the Sun's mood seemed to have dropped a bit after its smiling face last month.

In recent weeks, the Observatory shared a photo of the Sun 'smiling' and announced, "NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory caught the Sun smiling". Regarding the situation in question, NASA's experienced officials state that the black spots on the Sun, which can be seen with the help of ultraviolet light, are known as coronal gaps. On the other hand, it is reported that the solar wind is directed faster into space in the aforementioned regions.

While this may be a cute image among humans, it is actually a reminder of the threat of Solar Wind. Coronal holes in the sun can release jets of charged particles that can interfere with Earth's atmosphere. In fact, this is not the first time the sun has been caught smiling; in 2013, NASA captured another solar "grin" made of coronal holes. Also in 2014, the space agency shared a photo of what it dubbed the "Pumpkin Sun".
