Google made quite a few announcements today with the company's work on emojis, including the addition of Unicode 15.0 emoji to AOSP, an animated version of emojis on Android, a colorful version of the Noto Emoji font, and support for color-changing emojis in Chrome. These new emojis will soon be released for Android smartphones, tablets and smartwatches, including Samsung Galaxy devices.
In a post on the Google Developers Blog, the company announced that it has added Unicode 15.0 emojis to Google's emoji library. And it showcased Google's design for these emojis. Unicode 15.0 brings 21 new emojis. Left and right hand, trembling face, ginger, donkey, deer, goose, jellyfish, pea pod and new heart colors are some of the popular ones from the new list.
According to Google, new emojis will be added to AOSP in the coming weeks. The company will offer the new emoji set to Android devices with updates from December. Google Pixel devices may be in the first place to get the new emojis. In addition to adding new emojis to its library from Unicode 15.0, Google is releasing a number of animated emoji versions already available on Android. This is a first.

Android Resounds with New Emojis
While not all emojis on Android have animated versions, there are about 200 animated emojis listed on Google's website. A few of these animated emojis are already available in Google Messages.
Then there's an update to the Noto Emoji font, an open-source emoji font available online and currently supported by Chrome and other Google products. Initially, the font only supported monochrome emojis. Now Google is giving it new life by releasing a colorful version of the Noto Emoji font.
Brand new emoji characters arrive on our devices every year. Ahead of World Emoji Day on Sunday, July 17, Emojipedia shared the Unicode Consortium's Emoji 15.0 draft list. These are the emojis that Apple, Google, Microsoft and more will be adding to their devices in the coming months. There are only 31 emojis on the draft list this year. The list may change, but it's worth noting that every emoji in last year's draft list makes up the final list. These are not exactly what the emoji will look like and each seller will take on their own designs. But they should give you an idea of what to expect.
There are more than a few interesting inclusions here, but two stand out above the others. Finally, we get an official high five emoji. Over the years, the “Folded Hands” emoji has doubled as an expression of praying and giving someone a high five. Over the next year, you will have a much better and more accurate way of expressing your excitement.
Other additions include a trembling face, a pink heart, a deer, a donkey, a goose, a jellyfish, a maracas, and a flute. Interestingly, as Emojipedia points out, this isn't the first time the draft list includes any human emojis. The shaking face is the closest we'll ever get.
There is no release date yet for the new characters. However, the final list should drop in September. In terms of support, Google will likely bring new characters to Android between October and December. Other platforms will follow through 2023.
