Porsche gave the world premiere of a very special model at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Porsche 911 Dakar is as comfortable off-road as it is on the highway. Limited to just 2,500 units, this special model not only demonstrates that there are virtually no limits to the Porsche 911 concept, but also recalls Porsche's first major victory in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. This victory also symbolizes the birth of all-wheel drive for the Porsche 911. For this reason, the new 911 Dakar is also available with an optional Rally Design Package that recalls the iconic car that achieved so many victories. The first thing to notice about the Porsche 911 Dakar is its 50 millimeters higher ground clearance compared to a 911 Carrera with sports suspension. The new suspension lift system also allows the car to be raised by 30 millimeters. With its ground clearance and ramp angle, it challenges conventional SUVs. The lifting system not only gently overcomes obstacles, but is also an integral part of the reconfigured chassis. At speeds of up to 170 km/h, the "high level" setting can be used. Above this speed, the vehicle automatically returns to normal level.

Ultimate Power on All Roads
The three-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine delivers 480 PS (353 kW) and a maximum torque of 570 Newton meters. The new sports car accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 240 km/h due to the off-road tires. The 911 Dakar comes with the eight-speed PDK and Porsche all-wheel drive as standard. Standard equipment also includes rear axle steering, engine mounts from the 911 GT3 and the PDCC cornering stabilization system. The interaction of all these components makes the 911 Dakar as dynamic on sand and the most demanding surfaces as it is on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Two new driving modes, selectable using the rotary knob on the steering wheel, also ensure maximum off-road performance. Rally mode provides an ideal drive for rough surfaces, while Off-Road mode puts the car in the highest position. This mode is designed for maximum traction on rough terrain and sand. The two new driving modes also feature the new Rally Launch Control, which provides impressive acceleration on soft surfaces and allows around 20 percent wheel slip.
Optional Roof Tent
Other characteristic features of the 911 Dakar include a newly developed fixed lightweight rear spoiler made of CFRP and a CFRP front luggage compartment lid with striking air outlets taken from the 911 GT3. Standard off-road details such as red aluminum towing rings front and rear, enlarged wheel wells and sills, and stainless steel protective elements on the front, rear and side sills also differentiate the car. The redesigned front side air intakes also feature stainless steel grilles to protect against ricocheting stones. The roof of the Porsche 911 Dakar is optionally equipped with a roof rack and a 12-volt power outlet. With a capacity of 42 kilograms, the roof rack provides the ideal place to transport rally equipment such as fuel, water cans, shovels and tow ropes without any problems. The 911 Dakar is also available with an optional roof tent.
Inside, the 911 Dakar emphasizes sportiness with standard full racing seats and the removal of the rear seats. Lightweight glass and a lightweight battery reduce the weight even further, keeping the car under 1,605 kg. This makes the car only 10 kg heavier than the PDK-equipped 911 Carrera 4 GTS. A defining feature of the Dakar's interior is the standard Race-Tex surfaces with decorative stitching in shade green, which are also available exclusively for the 911 Dakar as a metallic exterior finish. The Rally Sport Package with safety bar, six-point seat belts and fire extinguisher is available as an option.
1984 Paris-Dakar Style with Rally Design Package
The car is available with the optional Rally Design Package designed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The centerpiece of this design package is a two-tone paint finish in White/Metallic Enzian Blue. This is the first time Porsche has used a combination of two-tone paint and decorative foil in series production. Owners can also choose a unique race number between 0 and 999 to be inscribed on the side of the car. Based on the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally winner, the Rally Design Package features red and gold rally stripes and "Roughroads" lettering on the doors. This is a registered trademark and reflects the concept of the 911 Dakar and its suitability for off-road driving. White painted wheels and a red taillight strip, which are not available on the standard car, complete the distinctive look. Other eye-catching features include extended Race-Tex and leather detailing in the interior, as well as seat belts in Shark Blue.
Porsche Design Chronograph
911 Dakar customers can specially order the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 -911 Dakar or the Chronograph 1 - 911 Dakar Rally Design Edition. This special design is the first chronograph whose body is made of lightweight titanium carbide, which is particularly scratch-resistant and lightweight.
