According to scientists' research, the next pandemic could come from glaciers! So, what is this pandemic? Here are the details!
In line with the analysis carried out on the Arctic lake, some conclusions were reached. According to these results, viruses and bacteria on the glaciers will infect wildlife with the melting. The pandemic that will emerge with the researches will not be caused by creatures such as birds and bats. Melting glaciers will cause the emergence of a new pandemic. In the genetic analysis of Arctic Hazen Lake soil, melting glaciers reveal the risk of viral spread. As a result of the findings; glaciers will melt as global temperatures increase.
In this way, bacteria and viruses in the melting glaciers will begin to spread into the environment. This research was published by Proceedings of the Royal Society B. Research was conducted by the University of Aix Marseille in France in 2014. Scientists at the university's National Scientific Research Center carried out a different study. Viruses taken from the frozen soils in Siberia were revived. Jean-Michel Claverie, one of the research team, made special statements to the BBC on the subject. Claverie described the emergence of ice sheets as a "disaster".
