Carl Douglas McMillon was born on October 17, 1966 in Tennessee, USA. He was the third child of his father Morris, a dentist, and his mother Laura. When he was 16 years old, his family moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, where the Walmart headquarters is located. Douglas McMillon was very interested in sports. Beyond his curiosity, he was also good at basketball. In fact, during his high school years, he played point guard for Bentonville High School's basketball team. But he thought his career was hidden in a completely different place beyond sports. That place was Walmart.

He Worked at Walmart Throughout His Career
He got his first job in the company when he was 1984 years old. During the summer he worked in a distribution center of the
company. His job there consisted of unloading trucks. After completing his high school education, McMillon chose the University of Arkansas for his college education. After graduating in 1989, he was awarded a Master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Tulsa the following year. Douglas McMillon stood out with his determination throughout his career. In his first year of graduate school, he called Walmart and told them that he wanted to work for the company after completing his studies. After that, everything happened just as he wanted.
Before he even graduated, he took a job as assistant manager of a Walmart store in Tulsa, Oklahoma. But McMillon was aiming much higher. As soon as he completed her master's degree, he moved to Walmart's Bentonville headquarters. His goal was to join the company's specialized purchasing program. After his training, McMillon became the person responsible for buying fishing tackle. The success of his first job gave him the opportunity to work on a wide range of products, including food, clothing, furniture and handicrafts. His experience there led him to become General Merchandise Manager at Sam's Club, Walmart's wholesale department store division. He was now a manager overseeing Walmart's toys, electronics and sporting goods!
Sam's Club's Road to the Success
McMillon became president and CEO of Sam's Club on August 4, 2005. He provided a lot of marketing support for wholesalers and small businesses. His success at Sam's Club earned him an important promotion in 2009. Douglas McMillon was now in charge of Walmart's international department. During his tenure, McMillon focused on improving Walmart's existing sales dynamic. He conducted significant activities in the US, UK, China and Canada. During McMillon's tenure, Walmart International's sales growth outpaced Walmart US. The regions under McMillon's responsibility accounted for 29% of the company's total sales. When Douglas McMillon took office, there were more than 3,300 Walmarts in 14 countries; by the end of 2013, there were 6,300 stores in 26 countries.
Promotion to Walmart CEO
On November 25, 2013, Walmart announced that McMillon would join the company's board of directors and take over as CEO of Walmart on February 1, 2014. McMillon, Walmart's fifth CEO, has continued to serve successfully since then. Working with the goal of creating a
"seamless shopping experience", McMillon lives in Bentonville, Arkansas with his wife Shelley. The couple has two sons and McMillon's fortune is over 25 million dollars.
