Most Powerful Turbine Made in China
According to the Chinese company China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), a gigantic Goldwind offshore wind turbine has arrived on the scene in Fujian province. With 16 megawatts, it has the world's largest specific power. It has a length of 146 meters (the height of a 50-storey building), the world's longest propeller diameter of 252 meters and the lightest weight per megawatt.
At full wind speed, the turbine can generate 34.2 kWh of energy after a full revolution. The annual electricity production, estimated at 66 million kwh, will meet the annual needs of 36,000 households. This will save 22,000 tons of coal and reduce carbon emissions by 54,000 tons.
